Pepsi surprises US Navy vet in awesome ‘Get Hyped for Halftime’ ad

As part of its “Get Hyped for Halftime” campaign, Pepsi is producing all kinds of awesome promotions getting fans geared up for the halftime show at this year’s Super Bowl on Feb. 2.

Pepsi’s “Twice in a Lifetime” video features Rory O’Connor, a former U.S. Navy sailor who attended Super Bowl IV in 1970, being interviewed about the game in a Bingo hall.

O’Connor “thought” he was being interviewed for an upcoming documentary about Super Bowl IV, and he shared the story of how he and 30 fellow sailors were given tickets to attend the game by some players who used to train at the Navy base.

O’Connor recalled how Broadway superstar Carol Channing was the first celebrity to ever appear in a halftime performance that year, and said, “This, to me, was a once in a lifetime experience.”

Not so. Pepsi recreated Channing’s performance, with the help of the darling diva herself, giving O’Connor a second in a lifetime experience.
