Global Christian persecution reaches crisis proportions

Global Christian persecution, raging throughout the world for the last decades is finally receiving the mainstream media attention it deserves.

This is due to persecution reaching crisis proportions — estimated at 100 million Christians worldwide — based on the 2013 report by Open Doors, an organization that fights and monitors Christian persecution around the world.

Now, even liberal leaning news outlets like Huffington Post and Reuters, to name only a few, are taking notice and have reported on Open Doors’ latest annual study.

This is no “War on Christmas,” but rather a full blown, “War on Christians.” Therefore, Americans who live in the most Christian of all nations, and usually are defenders of the persecuted, need to stand up and take action.

Here is a partial chart showing the top 37 countries where Christian persecution is most egregious.

There is no better time than now to recall the 1946 statement of Protestant pastor and social activist, Martin Niemoller:

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn’t a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

Remember that quote when you read this World WatchList.
