
Eight months later, the FBI has finally contacted some of the tea party groups being targeted for additional scrutiny by the Internal Revenue Service.
Attorney General Eric Holder ordered an FBI investigation after it was revealed that the agency “inappropriately” targeted tea party groups and “wrongly delayed” the approval of hundreds of applications for tax-exempt status, the Washington Times reported.

Attorney Jordan Sekulow, who represents 41 tea party and other conservative organizations in a federal lawsuit against the IRS, told Fox News Friday that a few of his clients were just recently approached by FBI investigators.
“We’re talking single digits right now,” Sekulow said.
Fox News reported that “concerns continue to mount that the government is slow-walking its investigation.” A concern that Sekulow shares.
“The [Justice Dept.] has done very little to move this investigation forward,” Sekulow said. “It has even stonewalled Congress, recently rescinding an offer to provide Congress an in-person briefing about the investigation’s progress.”
U.S. Rep. Darrell E. Issa, R-Calif., chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, opened his own investigation into the FBI’s efforts. Issa’s requests for documents are being rejected by the bureau, the Times reported.
