Sean Hannity used his radio program Monday to attack the idea of members of Congress inviting a representative of a suspected al-Qaida financing group to a briefing in Washington.
Florida Democrat Alan Grayson and California Democrat Barbara Lee scheduled the November meeting to discuss U.S. drone strike policy. Graysonâs office issued a news release announcing the event, including the expected appearance of  Mohammad Al Ahmady, a director of the Yemen branch of the âindependent human rights groupâ Al Karama.
Unfortunately for the Appeasement Caucus, Al Ahmady couldnât make it.
According to a report in the Washington Free Beacon, his visa was turned down by the U.S. State Department. The State Department told the Free Beacon it doesn’t comment on visa issues, but Al Karamaâs human rights work apparently includes such charitable efforts as funneling millions of dollars to al-Qaida terrorists in Iraq and Syria â the enemy the United States has been at war with since at least the mid-1990s.
In December, Al Karama’s president, Abdul Rahman, and its Yemen representative Abdulwahab Al-Humayqani, were designated terrorists and al-Qaida supporters by the Treasury Department, the Free Beacon reported. The group’s legal director, Rachid Mesli, is wanted on terrorism charges in Algeria.
These are the kind of guys Al Ahmady would have been having lunch with before he caught the flight to Washington.
So while the United States is engaging in drone warfare with terrorists in places like Yemen, Dems like Grayson and Lee are inviting representatives from terrorist financing groups from places like Yemen to discuss what the policies governing drone warfare against them ought to be.
Did the FBI ask John Dillinger and Willie Sutton what itâs policies against bank robbers ought to be?
Hannity hit the nail on the head:
âWhy would we ever invite our enemies into America?â Hannity asked. âA designated al Qaeda terrorist to meet with Democrats in Congress to discuss drone attacks? The idea is to bomb them with the drones âĤÂ This is single handedly one of the dumbest things they have ever done. Itâs insane.â
One of the dumbest things theyâve ever done? That might be going too far.
After all, fish gotta swim, birds gotta fly, and liberal Democrats gotta invite representatives of terrorist finance groups to a briefing in the Rayburn Building in Washington, D.C., to discuss policies about the very drone strikes the United States is using in its war against terrorist groups.
Hannityâs right about the bottom line, though.
Itâs insane.
