“Smellcome to manhood!”
It’s a sign of brilliant marketing when everyone is talking about your product. Occasionally, companies delve into the bizarre to get the buzz going.
The comments on this newly-released ad by Old Spice range from, “Hands down, best commercial I’ve ever seen!” to, “One of the creepiest things ever.”
The ad is a musical montage of clingy mothers following their teenage boys while they flirt with girls. The distraught-looking mothers are all singing a coming-of-age tune about Old Spice and their sons’ manhood.
Note the soon-to-be-classic line: “Old Spice sprayed a man of my son. Now he’s kissing all the women, and his chores aren’t done.”
I told you it was creepy.
While many find it humorous, others are freaked out. One thing is for sure: They are all talking about it. Mission accomplished, Old Spice.
