Melissa Harris-Perry’s tearful apology over remarks the MSNBC host made about Mitt Romney’s grandson elicited controversial tweets from actor Alec Baldwin on Saturday.
Baldwin recently hosted an MSNBC show, but his stint was cut short after his homophobic rant against a photographer in November.
The actor responded to Harris-Perry’s tears by tweeting – then deleting– the following, according to Twitchy:
But Baldwin couldn’t delete the responses that came from others:
Are you mocking a black woman? RT @ABFalecbaldwin: If I cry, will I be forgiven all of my transgressions?

Baldwin may have been glad to see someone change the subject:
.@ABFalecbaldwin #IfICry can I keep my health insurance plan?

#IfICry will MSNBC get more viewers? #ProbablyNot
