In an appearance on “Fox News Sunday,” Mitt Romney said he accepted the apology from MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry over an on-air segment that mocked Romney’s adopted African American grandson.
After host Chris Wallace played a clip of an apology Harris-Perry offered on Saturday’s show, Romney said, “I think her apology was clearly heartfelt, and we accept that.”

“Let me first note, Chris, we love this little guy a great deal,” Romney said when Wallace first brought the subject up. “He was an answer to prayer, and we love that he is a part of our family.”
“That being said, I recognize that people make mistakes,” he continued. “And the folks at MSNBC made a big mistake. They’ve apologized for it and that’s all can you ask for. I am going to move on from that. I am sure they want to move on from it.”
Wallace pointed out that Harris-Perry “had a good laugh” during the segment, suggesting Romney’s grandson could marry Kim Kardashian’s daughter, which would make Romney and Kanye West in-laws.
“With regards to the rest of the comments, I hadn’t heard those and don’t have any comment on those,” Romney replied.
