Civil rights activist and race baiter Jesse Jackson added his inflammatory two cents Tuesday about statements made by “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson’s on homosexuality.
Basically claiming Robertson made his remarks under the umbrella of “white privilege” and ignoring Robertson’s First Amendment right to free speech, Jackson compared Robertson to Rosa Parks’ 1955 bus driver.
“At least the bus driver, who ordered Rosa Parks to surrender her seat to a white person, was following state law,” Jackson said in an announcement obtained by the Chicago Tribune. “Robertson’s statements were uttered freely and openly without cover of the law, within a context of what he seemed to believe was ‘white privilege.’”
Joining with officials from GLAAD and the National Organization for Women, Jackson’s “human rights” group Rainbow PUSH Coalition are “demanding” A&E “keep Robertson on an indefinite hiatus from the show,” the Tribune reported.
According to the joint statement, the groups are also “demand[ing] meetings with A&E and with Cracker Barrel regarding the two companies’ treatment of Robertson” in the “next couple of days,” the article said.
“It is unacceptable that a personality who has been given such a large platform would benefit from racist and anti-gay comments,” the announcement read.
So what are the odds Jackson and the others mention A&E’s “benefitting” off of its most popular show ever by airing marathons and super marathons of “Duck Dynasty” on Christmas Day and running pre-Christmas sales on A&E’s “Duck Dynasty” merchandise?
