With all the recent focus about whether Santa Claus is white or not, there is an black Santa hidden away at Macy’s flagship store in New York City.
The “special Santa” only appears by request, according to the local CBS affiliate.
“I could have gone anywhere,” Elizabeth Kittles told CBS 2, “but I came right here because I knew they had an African-American Santa.”

According to CBS 2, parents must ask to see the special Santa when they reach the front of the line in Santaland at the store in Herald Square.
Kittles said she wished Macy’s would make sure more families know.
“It would be great if they put it out there either on the visitors’ website or when they advertise when Santaland is open,” she said.
The color of Santa’s skin sparked a national conversation after remarks by Fox News host Megyn Kelly, who claimed Santa is white.
While liberals stopped short of calling Kelly a white supremacist, she was accused of perpetuating white supremacy. Saturday Night Live even did a bit featuring a “black as hell” Santa. Eventually, fellow Fox News host Bill O’Reilly proved Kelly to be right when he shared the actually history behind Santa.
