Obama a big fan of ‘Duck Dynasty’: ‘I love the show . . . watch it on Air Force One’

While the country debates the fate of “Duck Dynasty” patriarch Phil Robertson over comments he made in a GQ magazine interview that some interpreted as racist, America’s first black president has been exposed as an admirer of the show.

At the last White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, Christian Broadcast Network News’ Jennifer Wishon invited, “Duck Dynasty’s” Willie and Korie Robertson to be her guests, according to a blog she posted on her organization’s website, CBN News. A man in a black suit approached the reality TV stars as they walked to the ballroom.

“I’m with the White House and I need you to come with me,” the man said, Wishon wrote in the blog. The Robertsons followed him, then returned to CBN’s table 45 minutes later.

The couple told Wishon they were at President Obama’s private reception.

“Wow, that’s great!” Wishon said she told them. “What did you talk to him about?”

She said the Robertsons were “grinning from ear to ear.”

CBN’s chief political correspondent, David Brody, said the recent controversy was a turning point for Christians, telling the story of the encounter Friday on Fox News’ “The Kelly File.”

“This is a frustration that has been building a long time with evangelical Christians,” Brody told host Megyn Kelly. “We saw it with Chik-Fil-A with the whole marriage situation, you know, the owner of Chik-Fil-A coming out in support of traditional marriage. And here we go again. Look, you don’t mess with ‘Duck Dynasty.’”

Brody tells the story of the dinner at about the 4:00 minute mark:
