Media scrub reality to hide Colorado school gunman’s leftist, ‘socialist’ politics

Friday’s shooting at Arapahoe High School in Colorado by Karl Pierson, a deranged, gun-grabbing leftist who hated Republicans and capitalism is giving new meaning to the phrase “all the news that’s fit to print.”

If it fits the liberal narrative, it’s fit for print. If it doesn’t, the media considers it its job to obfuscate and omit, lie and play word games until it does.

So the news that Pierson was not only a socialist, but a violent socialist,  is apparently not fit to print in major newspapers like the Denver Post, Los Angeles Times or The New York Times — at least not without some tweaking.

The Denver Post scrubbed the word “socialist” used by a fellow student to describe gunman Karl Pierson out of an early version of a story. In a tweet, Lee Ann Colacioppo, the paper’s senior editor explained that,  “We decided not to have another student apply a label to the shooter — a label the student likely didn’t even understand ..”

That’s a funny explanation for an editing decision about a story headlined “Arapahoe High gunman held strong political beliefs, classmates said.”

Denver Post readers weren’t buying it.

Good question, considering the classmate who was originally reported using the description “socialist” for Pierson was said to have taken an economics class with the gunman. It’s a good chance the word “socialist” came up in a senior year high school economics class – even with a unionized public school teacher.

Clearly, the classmates understood Pierson’s politics. The DP understood Pierson’s politics. The headline-writer understood them. They just didn’t fit the story libs have been telling for decades now – in the face of a mountain of evidence — that  the only political violence that counts comes from the right wing.

It’s also funny that a story with a headline about the suicidal gunman’s politics doesn’t get around to actually mentioning what those politics were until the 15th paragraph of a 20-paragraph article.

Then it uses Pierson Facebook postings that included, “you republicans are so cute” and an image that reads: “The Republican Party: Health Care: Let ’em Die, Climate Change: Let ’em Die, Gun Violence: Let ’em Die, Women’s Rights: Let ’em Die, More War: Let ’em Die. Is this really the side you want to be on?”

It’s safe to say Pierson really didn’t like Republicans and believes in climate change, gun control and abortion rights. Who does that sound like?

At least the DP couldn’t deny reality completely, unlike its colleagues in Los Angeles or New York.

The L.A. Times had access to the same Facebook material, but left out the real wacko-left stuff and opted instead to quote a near-incomprehensible economic-theory question: “I was wondering to all the neoclassicals and neoliberals, why isn’t the market correcting itself? If the invisible hand is so strong, shouldn’t it be able to overpower regulations?”

The New York Times virtually ignored the story completely, satisfying itself with an eight-paragraph Associate Press dispatch that contained not a word about politics. Would The New York Times even consider passing up coverage of a right-wing shooting in Colorado?

In Obama’s America, the media has its marching orders in its DNA now. All the news that fits a blinkered, biased, administration-countenance world view it prints.

The rest is for them to know – and you to find out.
