Video: Fire ant colony casted with molten aluminum creates controversy

This video depicts someone pouring molten aluminum down a fire ant colony. What results is a beautifully intricate sculpture after the aluminum cools, is dug up and cleaned.

It was posted on YouTube Nov. 22, but received little attention until recently. As of Dec. 13, it has over 8 million views.

But with success comes controversy. Viewers are appalled about the senseless slaughter of the fire ants. Hey folks, lighten up — they’re fire ants.
