In yet another attempt to lure millennials to enroll in Obamacare, a Department of Health and Human Services contest announced the grand prize-winning video Monday – ironically titled, “Forget About the Price Tag.”
The contest sought submissions designed to attract younger, healthier applicants needed to make the program a success. According to a release from the White House:
Back in August 2013, Young Invincibles, in partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services, launched the Healthy Young America Video Contest, an effort to mobilize young people to help educate and inform one another about the Affordable Care Act. Participants submitted their videos, the public weighed in, and a finalist was selected in each of three categories: “You Are Not Invincible,” original song performance, and animation.
Three finalists were chosen in each of the three categories, according to the Young Invincibles website. Finalists were awarded $3,000 for first place and $2,500 each for second and third place. The grand prize winner received an additional $2,000.
Erin McDonald, who won the “Perform a Song” category and ultimately the grand prize, is featured in the top video singing: “Ain’t about the, uh, cha-ching cha-ching. Ain’t about the, yeah, bla-bling bla-bling. Affordable Care Act. Don’t worry ’bout the price tag.”
