U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., was spinning hard Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” saying President Barack Obama showed “integrity” by apologizing to Americans who “misunderstood” his promise that they could keep their health insurance plans under Obamacare.
Obama made some version of that promise publicly at least 36 times, the Washington Free Beacon reported.

“He owned it,” Ellison told a panel that included U.S. Rep. Tom Cole, R- Okla., who chuckled at his remark.
“He said, look man, if you misunderstood what I was trying to say, I’m sorry about that,” Ellison said. “I think that shows integrity. He didn’t do anything to self-promote.”
The Free Beacon accurately points out that Ellison misquoted the president as saying, “If you like your decent insurance that works, you can keep it.” Which is tweaking what Obama actually said: “If you like your health insurance plan, you can keep it. Period.”
Try as they might, there’s no amount of spin that can erase “period.” Period.
