Welfare recipient’s truth: You’re the suckers, can you blame us?

A Texas news radio listener revealed that because welfare takes care of all her needs, she had no desire to work, would never seek work and would continue to lead a life of leisure — thanks to the taxpayers.

“Can you really blame us?” the woman asked Austin radio station KLBJ’s hosts in the call last month. “I get to sit home. I get to visit my friends all day — I even get to smoke weed.”

Listen to the exchange below.

The caller, “Lucy from Riverside,” is a member of what former presidential nominee Mitt Romney referred to at a Boca Raton fundraiser as the “47 percent,” a remark many believe cost him the election.

“All right, there are 47 percent who are with [President Obama], who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it,” Romney said. “That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what … These are people who pay no income tax.”

That number was 47 percent in May 2012. But it’s growing.
