‘Batkid’ becomes superhero for a day, captures hearts of millions

SF Chronical Batkid issuePeople all over the world were captivated Friday by the 5-year-old boy who became Batkid to “save” San Francisco and the thousands who turned out to cheer him on.

Orchestrated by Make-A-Wish, the undertaking was a dream come true for Miles Scott, who has battled leukemia for four years, according to ABC7 News.

The event included a Lamborghini outfitted as the Batmobile, a damsel in distress, the Riddler in a bank vault and — the climax — a car chase through AT&T Park to rescue the San Francisco Giants mascot from the Penguin.

Even the San Francisco Chronicle got in on the action, printing a special morning edition renaming itself the “Gotham City Chronicle” and featuring front-page stories of the Batkid’s heroics.

Twitter was buzzing about Batkid, with #SFBatKid trending throughout the day.
