After announcing that he was willing to work with anyone to fix the problems associated with the Affordable Care Act, President Barack Obama said he would veto a congressional effort intended to do exactly that.
At a Thursday press conference, Obama acknowledged his signature health plan had problems, including the loss of coverage for millions of policyholders, and emphasized a willingness to work with Congress to iron the issues out.
Democratic National Committee Chairwoman and U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz tweeted the president’s promise, and added her own on behalf of the Democratic Party.
Aware of the congresswoman’s abrasiveness and the president’s unwillingness to work across the isle, @SuperAndrea tweeted:

U.S. Rep. Fred Upton, R-Mich., appeared on the Fox News show, “On The Record,” with Greta van Susteren on Thursday night to announce his bipartisan bill to keep the president’s promise that Americans can keep their preferred plans.
Upton acknowledged that the president was preparing an executive order to help him keep that pledge, but he said the Affordable Care Act “needs a law to fix it, not administrative authority.”
The ‘‘Keep Your Health Plan Act of 2013’’ would provide that “a health insurance issuer that has in effect health insurance coverage in the individual market as of January 1, 2013, may continue after such date to offer such coverage for sale during 2014 in such market outside of an Exchange,” and “shall be treated as a grandfathered health plan for purposes of the … Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act,” according to the Energy Committee website.
Upton’s bill is co-sponsored by a number of Democrats, including Patrick Murphy, D-Fla., who said, “I came to Congress to solve problems and this bill would do just that by keeping the promise made that you can keep your health plan if you so choose,” he said in a statement, according to InsuranceNewsNet.com.
“I will work with any member, Democrat or Republican, who is willing to work together to find common-sense solutions such as this to put the American people first,” he concluded.
Well, maybe Murphy will work with the GOP, but not the president.
Two hours after Upton made his announcement on Fox News, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., made a discovery on the White House web site and tweeted:
