Palin remembers when Dems were ‘bold enough to cite scripture’

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin found herself fondly looking back to the brief administration of President John F. Kennedy as the 50th anniversary of his assassination approaches, and remembers a time when faith was embraced by the Democratic Party.

jfkShe said this while promoting her book, “Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christians,” during an exclusive interview with Breitbart News.

She noted that Kennedy “trusted the people to make good decisions for themselves, more so than you will see in the leadership of the Democratic Party today.”

Although Kennedy once famously said, “I’m proud to say I’m a liberal,” liberalism took on a whole different meaning during the days of Camelot.

“Remember, he was bold enough to cite scripture. He was bold enough to talk about the Judeo-Christian faith that is America’s foundation,” Palin said. “He wasn’t politically correct in that arena. And maybe, back then—in the early ’60s—maybe that was more accepted than it is today.”

Kennedy was deeply religious, virulently anti-Communist, strongly pro-capitalist and spoke proudly of American exceptionalism. His first act upon assuming office was to call for a deep cut in both personal and corporate taxes, correctly assessing that this would boost economic growth and increase tax revenues in the long run.
