In today’s era of tolerance and inclusion, happily ushered in by the progressive left, a college in Colorado finds itself in the midst of controversy over the use of the word “queer.”

Then again, the choice of words is critical when advancing an agenda.

The local CBS affiliate reported job applicants at Colorado College are presented with these options in the voluntary gender section of applications:

“Not disclosed; male; female; transgender; or queer.”

While some are skeptical of the decision, the school stands by the wording.

“Colorado College is making an effort to be inclusive,” said Marley Jamason, a student with the Office of Minority and International Students. “’Queer’ is an umbrella term that encompasses a whole range of identities.”

A position many in the LGBT community agree with.

“It’s true that for many years lots of people were called ‘queer’ and it was a derogatory term and they find it offensive, but there’s definitely a younger generation that is trying to reform the term and give it new meaning,” Rex Fuller, who’s with Denver’s LGBT Community Center, told CBS Denver.

An effort similar to a 2012 Planned Parenthood campaign to “reform” the word slut.

LGBT stands for “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender.” An acronym used in place of “gay community” because it draws more people in, building the ranks of the small percentage of homosexuals, thus the political power.

However, some have expanded the initials to LGBTQ: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning. A move that aligns with the new Colorado College job application.

But it’s hard to fault someone who gets confused, as other go even further.

There is “LGBTQA,” which stands for: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, and Asexual.

And “LGBTIQ,” which represents: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Questioning.

For those who can remember when it was just male and female, this is what’s defined as “progress.” Words do indeed have meaning, but not always what you may think.
