Will the real Marty Walsh, newly elected mayor of Boston, please stand up and give your phone number to your dialing-challenged fellow Democrats, particularly Vice President Joe Biden who had a hell of a time trying to call you last week?
Biden attempted to call the Mayor-elect to congratulate him Tuesday night, but dialed the wrong Marty Walsh.
“You son of a gun, Marty! You did it! Congratulations,” Biden greeted the wrong Walsh, who was actually a one-time former aide to Sen. Ted Kennedy.
So, Biden moved on to the next number on his list for the new mayor, but alas, dialed some woman named Toni, last name not “even close to Walsh” and who doesn’t even live in Boston, the Huffington Post reported.
According to the Post, Biden left the following voicemail for Walsh on Toni’s phone Tuesday night:
Mr. Mayor, congratulations. Marty, this is Joe Biden. Nice to see you win and nice to see Labor win. Anything I can do to help you from the White House in terms of your needs in Boston, holler man. Congratulations. Enjoy the night.
On Thursday, the vice president’s office tweeted the following acknowledgment that Biden had phone-calling issues.

In fairness to the vice president, multiple news reports said even the White House operator attempting to connect President Obama to the new mayor, as well as Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the mayor of Minneapolis also called the wrong Walsh – the former aide to Sen. Kennedy – Tuesday night.
