Move over James Woods, another hot Hollywood star is equally proud of being a conservative.
Actor Vince Vaughn, star of the film “Wedding Crashers,” called into Adam Carolla‘s radio show this week and when the conversation turned to politics, Carolla asked: “Do you count yourself as a conservative?”
“I do, yeah,” he quickly answered . “I’m very supportive of Ron Paul, but I’ve always been, you know, more conservative than not.”
At Carolla’s prompting, Vaughn talked about his father coming from a working class family that leaned democratic, but said: “As a guy that worked very hard, and sort of put himself through school and stuff, he was more conservative, for sure.”
“I really like Ron Paul… I think when you get older, you just get less trust in the government running anything,” Vaughn said. “And that you start to realize when you really go back and look at the Constitution and the principles of liberty, the real purpose of government is to protect the individual’s right to sort of think and pursue what they have interest in.”
That music to a conservative’s ear.
When Carolla asked Vaughn if his views have “caused any friction” for him in the movie industry, he acknowledged that “there can be sort of a bias against people who don’t agree with what’s popular,” but added, “I can disagree with people but not have it be at the forefront of all conversations.”
