The Obamacare website has been up for a month, and while the Obama administration has refused to release figures on the actual number of people signing up for the program, leaked information contradicts the rosy picture the White House is painting.
Detailed information included in notes from “war room” meetings held twice daily by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid show a very slow start in enrollment, according to CBS News.
While the administration claims the site received 4.7 million unique visitors on Oct. 1, the first day it was available, the notes reveal only six people actually enrolled.
The health care exchanges will need an average of 39,000 people enrolling per day to meet the administration’s goal to sign up 7 million by March 1. The meeting notes mentioned three major problems, according to CBS:
- “Direct enrollment (signing up directly on an insurer’s website) is not working for any issuers.”
- “Experian” credit reporting agency is “creating confusion with credit check information.”
- “Issuer phone numbers are not appearing correctly on the Pay Now page.”
Officials with the Department of Health and Human Services would not confirm or deny any information when asked by CBS on Thursday.
