Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius was grilled during her testimony before the House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing Wednesday, but the real buzz was sparked by the words she probably didn’t expect everyone to hear.
“Don’t do this to me,” Sebelius said over an open mic after consulting with a colleague. It was unclear to whom she was speaking, but a Washington CBS affiliate suggested it was an aide.
The comment followed an exchange with U.S. Rep. Billy Long, R-Mo., who asked if Sebelius would enroll in Obamacare if she were eligible. She insisted it was not legal for her to do so, and that the question was irrelevant.
Ted Cruz didn’t waste any time with a snappy Twitter resonse:
Same thing Americans are saying about Obamacare RT @igorvolsky: Sebelius overheard on open mic: “don’t do this to me.”
