Bus driver Darnell Barton is being called a hero for saving a woman’s life while traveling with a bus full of high school students down a New York highway.
Barton pulled his bus over on the Scajaquada Expressway when he saw a woman standing on the far side of the guardrail looking like she was about to jump.
The burly father of two sensed the woman was in trouble and carefully walked over to her and put his arms around her. After coaxing her to climb to safety, Â he calmed her down with gentle kindness according to his account.
“It was meant to be. I was supposed to be there for her at that moment and I was,” Barton said. Â “I am a football guy,” he added. “When the coach calls your number, you gotta make a play.”
