Obamacare website turns blind eye to immigration status

Americans trying to use the federal Obamacare website have no official expectation of privacy.

But there’s good news for one group:

immigsign1028Healthcare.gov bends over backwards to assure immigrants their legal status shouldn’t be a concern.

According to a Weekly Standard report,  immigrants worried that they should have no fear of legal action from accessing the website because information “provided by applicants or beneficiaries won’t be used for immigration enforcement purposes.”

Funny, it seems like that’s about the only thing it won’t be used for.

According to a Fox News report, “Privacy concerns over personal info submitted to Obamacare website,” a section of the “terms and conditions” of website use specifies – though not where most users will see it – that “You have no reasonable expectation of privacy regarding any communication or data transiting or stored on this information system.”

Another section makes the situation even clearer: “At any time, and for any lawful government purpose, the government may monitor, intercept, and search and seize any communication or data transiting or stored on this information system.”

So, how is it that “any lawful government purpose” doesn’t seem to include the lawful purpose of finding people here unlawfully? Or, as the Weekly Standard puts it, “possible violations of immigration laws will not trigger the ‘law enforcement action’ threatened in other cases.”

As always with the Obama administration, the law is not what the law says it is.

It’s what the president says it is.
