Should she stay or should she go?
Congressional Republicans on Sunday’s talk shows made it clear Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius should be out of her job after the technical problems that have made the Obamacare rollout a debacle less than a month into its official start.
And those problems are only the tip of the iceberg, Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., told CBS’s Bob Schieffer on “Face the Nation.”
“Ninety percent [of the problems] are below the water, like an iceberg,” Issa, the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee said.
“It’s not websites, it’s a question of costs and benefits for the American people,” he said.
Given that Sebelius is the public face of Obamacare – the public face that isn’t named “Obama” anyway – Issa said the depth of difficulties in implementing the law mean someone else should be in charge.
“If she cannot reorganize to get the kind of a team in consistently to meet [Obama’s] agenda, then she shouldn’t be there,” he said.
On Fox News Sunday, Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., was more explicit.
“We want to talk to her before she is out the door,” said Blackburn, a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. “The incompetence in building this website is staggering.”
Sebelius is expected to testify before Blackburn’s committee this week.
