Megyn Kelly confronts pompous Obamacare architect on epic failure

Megyn Kelly took one of the architects of the Affordable Care Act, grilling him on the president’s role in the fiasco.

In her Friday “The Kelly Files,” the Fox News host reminded Ezekiel Emanuel of President Obama’s oft-repeated promise that Americans can keep their present insurance plans, and asked if the president was “intentionally misleading or grossly mistaken,” according to Fox News.

Emanuel, a bioethicist and fellow at the Hastings Center said the answer was “neither of those,” arguing that it wasn’t Obama’s fault if people lost their coverage after Obamacare’s rollout.

Kelly disagreed, saying the problem “was foreseeable” because “you’re making [them] provide bare minimums on the policies … that will be more costly and that will lead to a reduction in coverage for people who can no longer afford it.”

Employees of “The Kelly Files” show said they liked their health care plan, but were forced into a less desirable one after the rollout, Kelly said.

Emanuel argued that the goal of the Affordable Care Act is to provide coverage to “34 million people,” as well as control costs and create “an improved quality of the system,” adding that the standard is to get 7 million people covered by March 31.

“We’re not on track” to reach that number, Kelly said. The latest estimates are that 129,000 have enrolled to date.

“As I have repeatedly said, whatever the number is today is totally irrelevant … you’re claiming we’re not on track, [but] you have no idea whether we’re on track or not!” Emanuel said.

Kelly said she wished she could believe him, “but Kathleen Sebelius won’t tell me!”
