ICE agents’ leader turns up heat on Obama immigration ‘scandal’

The Obama administration is inflating deportation numbers while ordering immigration agents to ignore the law they are sworn to uphold, the head of the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents’ union told Fox News.

“Nothing the administration does matches up with what they’re saying publicly,” ICE Council President Chris Crane told Shannon Bream on Sunday.

icearrest1021Crane said President Obama’s selective enforcement of the law – halting deportations of illegal aliens who meet certain conditions – is a scandal on par with the IRS targeting of conservative groups and the coverup of the attack on the American consulate in Benghazi.

Crane’s appearance was the latest salvo in a long-running battle between the administration and the agents’ union, which with its 7,600 agents is probably the only public employees union that isn’t openly in Obama’s pocket. The ICE Council unsuccessfully sued the administration over a policy announced in June 2012 – as part of the president’s re-election campaign – that illegal aliens would no longer be deported if they met conditions determined by the White House.

“You can be in the country illegally, you can have an extensive criminal history, you can have multiple criminal convictions for serious offenses, and there is nothing that we can do to touch you,” Crane said.

Obama “effectively told ICE agents they can no longer enforce the law,” Crane told Bream.

The lawsuit was dismissed in for jurisdiction reasons. But the judge in the case wrote that the agents were essentially right.

“Plaintiffs were likely to succeed on the merits of their claim that the Department of Homeland Security has implemented a program contrary to congressional mandate,” he wrote.

The White House has also refused to meet with the ICE agents, while speaking to representatives of just about every other group involved in the immigration debate.

‘We are completely ignored,” Crane said.

Obama and the Democrat hacks who’ve now had five years to entrench themselves are also deceptively inflating the number of deportations to make it appear the administration is actively enforcing the law when it’s not, Crane said.

According to the Washington Times, the numbers turned over by the Department of Homeland Security as part of the council’s lawsuit, the deportations touted by the administration as deportations include those caught crossing the border. The number of deportations of those actually living in the United States illegally was down by 25 percent, the Times reported in April.

It is the illegal immigrants living in the country that are costing local taxpayers in the form of schools to teach the children, hospital care for the sick, and police and jails to lock up the criminals.

“Something has to be done,” Crane said.
