Look who came out of hiding – or “witness protection,” as some joked for the past few weeks – now that the government shutdown is over.
Vice President Joe Biden greeted federal employees returning to work at the Environmental Protection Agency with muffins, CBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller reported Thursday.
Here are Knoller’s tweets and the snarky replies noting that Biden is back now that the hard work is finished…at least until early next year:
VP Biden went to EPA Headquarters this morning in DC to welcome furloughed Federal workers back to their jobs.

“I brought muffins,” Biden tells returning Federal workers as he shakes hands at EPA entrance. “This is like the first day of school.”

“I hope we can regain the trust of the American people,” said VP Biden of the just-ended 16-day shutdown.

Of the shutdown, VP Biden says he hopes “everybody walks away with a lesson that this is unnecessary.”
