Well, look who was sprung from jail – again!
U.S. Rep. Charlie Rangel, who was voluntarily arrested this week at an immigration reform rally near the Capitol, spoke with Fox Business Network’s Dagen McDowell Friday to discuss, among other things, his arrest and treatment by the Capitol Police.
Rangel gave his thoughts on topics ranging from the debt ceiling to the current shutdown, but then McDowell ended the interview by asking how the congressman was treated while in police custody Tuesday.
“I didn’t expect to be treated better than anyone else, but between you and me, I thought I’d be treated better by the Capitol Police than I was,” Rangel said.
Rangel, who is no novice at being handcuffed, arrested, booked and tossed in the slammer, continued:
I think they were trying to help me, but the cuffs were so tight that when I said loosen up the cuffs – and I wasn’t cursing then – in an attempt to loosen it up, one of the rookie cops actually tightened it.
And then when I said ‘would you cut the damn cuffs off and put on new cuffs,’ he told me he didn’t have a cutter.
So, but you know, they do the best they can under the circumstances and it reminded me how other people who are not members of Congress can and should not be treated.
Can we give the rookie cop a medal?
