Fox News host Sean Hannity called U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, D-N.J., a liar when the congressman denied that Congress voted for a special Affordable Care Act “subsidy exemption,” challenging him to a bet and telling him, “You’re full of crap!”
“If big business gets a special exemption, do you think it’s fair that individuals did not get the same exemption?” Hannity said on his Thursday night show. “And similarly, you and Congress are getting the subsidy exemption that the rest of us are not getting with Obamacare. Is that fair?”
When Pascrell denied that Congress received a subsidy, Hannity stated how much of a break members of Congress get under the Affordable Care Act.
“Seventy-two percent,” Hannity said. “Can I get the 72 percent? I can’t.”
Pascrell said Republicans will be fighting to make sure they have coverage, too, once the budget battle “blows over.”
Unable to budge the congressman, Hannity offered him a $10,000 bet, “your charity against mine,” that Congress has a “special subsidy that the American people don’t have.”
“You gonna take the bet, Congressman?” Hannity asked in a raised voice. “Are you gonna take the bet?”
“No,” Pascrell replied.
“That’s because you’re lying! That’s why,” Hannity said.
“There’s no deal the president cut for the Congress,” Pascrell said. “You have a big problem! Don’t you dare call me a liar.”
Hannity told Pascrell he was “full of crap” at the end of the exchange. U.S. Rep. Matt Salmon, R., Ariz., was also involved in the interview
