Obama compares first day rollout to iPhone glitch

obama-iphoneThere really is only one word that would describe yesterday’s debacle of Obamacare Day One….predictable.

Why would anyone think that the implementation of this bill would be any different from the conceptualizing of the bill? Which was a “let’s toss everything up in the air and we’ll go with whatever sticks to the ceiling” theory. About a thousand pages worth, and if you add the “rules,” it may be well over 10,000 pages.

And we all thought Nancy Pelosi was having a senior moment when she uttered her famous nonsense, “we have to pass the bill to know what’s in the bill.”

The lack of forethought is truly the trademark, not only of the Affordable Care Act, but of the entire tenure of the Obama administration. Do we really need to bring up the term “shovel ready” to point out how bad this administration has been at actually implementing its “pie in the sky” cure all plans.

The president likened this boondoggle of a first day to the glitch with the most recent iPhone.

“Consider that just a couple of weeks ago, Apple  rolled out a new mobile operating system, and within days, they found a glitch, so they fixed it,” he said. “I don’t remember anybody suggesting Apple should stop selling iPhones or iPads or threatening to shut down the company if they didn’t. That’s not how we do things in America. We don’t actively root for failure. We get to work, we make things happen, we make them better, we keep going.”

Well, the difference very well may be that Apple has the knowledge and ability to fix the “glitch” almost immediately.

The government, not so much.

A wise man once said, “if you think healthcare is expensive now, wait til it’s free,” and in that spirit it would be logical to think that if you find it frustrating dealing with insurance companies, wait till you have to deal with the government.

Yesterday proved that.

By the way, just a note: You have three months before you can actually be covered by the ACA so why call the first day.

I won’t even go to a new restaurant the first day it is open.
