U.S. Rep. Jim Moran D-Va., used Twitter on Saturday to complain about having to do his job. Apparently, the congressman felt he had better things to do than debate matters of national importance.
“What a way to spend a Saturday night # enough already,” Moran tweeted at 11:01 p.m., making good use of social media to display his sense of duty to those who elected him.
With Moran making $174,000 a year to represent his constituents, you have to wonder how many Americans in these economic times would gladly work a weekend to bring home that kind of money. He seems out of touch with reality.
But if Moran’s idea of a better Saturday evening involved a few soothing drinks, his peers may have found a way to beat him to the punch bowl. Politico reporter Ginger Gibson, on hand for the festivities, tweeted about a boozy scent floating around House members
“I’m not over exaggerating when I say I can smell the booze wafting from members as they walk off the floor,” Gibson tweeted.
Just who took those nips from the flask, she couldn’t say. In a separate tweet, Gibson said, “For all those asking for names, sorry, I didn’t get close enough to figure out the source of the smell.”
One thing is for sure: Complaining, drinking lawmakers are enough to drive us to do the same.
