Did the Navy Yard gunman shout “Allahu Akbar!” before he opened fire?
Did the children in Sandy Hook Elementary School die with a Muslim prayer ringing in their ears?
It seems to have gone unnoticed by the mainstream media, but President Obama’s remarks Sunday on the mass shooting at the Washington, D.C., Naval Yard put Nidal Hasan, the Fort Hood, Texas, terrorist on the same footing as the maniacs who committed the four other shootings of his presidency.
Since he took office in 2009, Obama said, he has spoken at “five American communities ripped apart by mass violence.”
“Once more, our hearts are broken; once more, we ask why.”
Obama has delivered sadly similar remarks after shootings at Fort Hood in Texas, a school in Newtown, Conn., a movie theater in Aurora, Colo.; and a supermarket appearance by former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., in Tuscon.
The remarks might have been similar, but the shootings were anything but.
The shootings at the Naval Yard, Newtown, Aurora and Tuscon were mass killings committed by an insane person, bent on satisfying the unknown demons of mental illness.
The shooting at Fort Hood was entirely different. It was an attack by an Islamic terrorist – a man bent on killing American servicemen and women for the express purpose of preventing them from carrying war to the enemies of the United States of America.
Was its inclusion in the Naval Yard speech a deliberate attempt by Obama and his speech writers to confuse the nature of Nidal Hasan with the madmen who committed the other crimes?
Since the November Nov. 5, 2009, shooting at Fort Hood that killed 12 servicemen and a civilian doctor who tried to prevent more slaughter, Obama and his lapdogs have tried to portray it shamefully as a case of “workplace violence,” denying Hasan’s surviving victims and the families of those who died the honor and benefits accorded to wartime casualties.
“Once more,” the president said, “we have to ask why.”
No. Once more, this country has to ask why the commander-in-chief refuses to recognize the reality of who the enemy is that’s attacking his countrymen. Instead, he shamefully used the occasion of speaking about the deaths of victims to attack the rights of their fellow citizens.
The theater-goers in Aurora, Calif., did not die at the hands of an Islamist.
Gabrielle Giffords wasn’t shot by a man who wanted her wearing a burka.
The Fort Hood attack was an act of war.
The only real question is why won’t Obama and his media enablers recognize that?
“We can’t accept this,” the president said.
No. We can’t.
