A video of a police officer in Toledo, Ohio forcing a woman and her family at gunpoint to lay in the street is making its way around the Internet.
The video, recorded by Jim Stechschulte, has local residents furious at the police:
The incident took place on Sunday, when Cassandra Meyers was stopped for a routine license plate violation near her home.
Her father-in-law, Aaron Tatkowski, witnessed the officer questioning Meyers, and approached the scene because he didn’t like the way his daughter-in-law was being talked to, according to Toledo News Now.
It’s difficult to decipher who is saying what in the video, which does not capture any interaction that took place before the family was forced to lay in the street.
The lone office appears to be trying to subdue the family until help arrives. While clearly pointing the gun at the head of Tatkowski, the officer does not seem to be getting much cooperation from the family.
As the Daily Caller noted, a spokesperson for the police department said the officer acted appropriately, given that the family members were not obeying instructions.
“It was totally uncalled for, the way [the policeman] was using force on people,” Stechschulte said in a statement to Toledo News Now. “I’m sorry to say that, but that’s the way it is and if they don’t like it, so be it.”
