At first glance, a tailgate decal on the back of a truck showing a woman bound and tied in the back is so convincing that it’s causing a bit of a stir in Texas.
Some have even called the police when they saw the decal, thinking a woman was truly in trouble, according to the Daily Mail.
In reality, the sticker is the product of Hornet Signs in Waco.
Brad Kolb, owner of the marketing and advertising company, said the sticker was put on an employee’s truck to gauge how realistic their decals are.
“I wasn’t expecting the reactions we got, nor do we condone this by any means,” Kolb told KWTX. “It was more or less something we put out there to see who noticed it.”
The responses to the marketing stunt have been almost all negative, KWTX reported. One viewer said, “Abduction or any violence against women is not funny or cute.”
Poor taste or not, it’s working as orders for tailgate decals have gone up for Hornet Signs since the sticker appeared on the streets, the Daily Mail noted.
