George W. Bush talks to Fox about Syria: I was ‘no fan’ of Assad

A very relaxed and smiling former President George W. Bush sat with Brian Kilmeade Friday morning on Fox and Friends and said he was no fan of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

“I was not a fan of Mr. Assad,” Bush said. “He’s an ally of Iran and he’s made mischief.”

However, Bush was very reluctant to say much more on the subject of Assad and whether the U.S. should launch a missile strike on Syria.

“The president has to make a tough call, Brian,” Bush said. “I know you’re trying to subtly roll me into the issues of the day. I refuse to be roped in,” Bush gently chided Kilmeade.

But Bush did say that if Obama “decides to use our military, he’ll have the greatest military – ever – backing him up.”

“Putting our military into harm’s way is the toughest decision a president will make,” Bush concluded.
