On the eve of President Obama’s address on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, Jesse Jackson dared to compare the tea party to the confederacy.

The notorious race hustler told Politico he “absolutely” thinks congressional Republicans are motivated by race in opposing the president’s policies.

The tea party is the resurrection of the Confederacy, it’s the Fort Sumter tea party,” Jackson said.

Fort Sumter is located in South Carolina and is the site upon which the shots that started the American Civil War were fired.

At a time when racial animosity is at a high in America, the man who personifies the grievance industry better than anyone and has personally profited from his advocacy continues to throw gasoline on the fire.

And it appears that even the Obama administration is distancing themselves from Jackson’s nonsense.

As noted by Politico’s Glenn Thrush: “And none of the half-dozen top Obama aides interviewed for this article and others over the past few months say they have ever heard the president suggest race is a factor in GOP opposition.”

“[President] Bill Clinton was a white guy from the country, and they were just as vituperative,” said one veteran Obama adviser. “But I don’t know what [Obama] thinks about it.”

The Washington Free Beacon’s Ellison Barber appeared on Fox News’ “Your World” on Tuesday and put Jackson’s comments into proper perspective and discussed what the 2014 midterm elections look like for the group.
