Ted Cruz’s dad: ‘I don’t see him running for president’

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, widely seen as a leading candidate for the 2016 Republican nominee for president, was interviewed alongside his father by CNN’s Candy Crowley, who looked to dad to answer whether his son will run for president.

I don’t see him running for president,” the elder Cruz said as his son smiled next to him, according to the Washington Examiner.

“He is standing up for principle in the Senate and I am very proud of him doing that,” he continued.

When pressed if he would like to see his son run for president, Cruz replied, “I think that is the future. Nobody knows what the future brings.”

Crowley asked if he wanted his son to get into politics and he said that politics has been a part of the family since Ted Cruz was eight or nine years old, as he was “very much involved at the grassroots level in helping Ronald Reagan get elected.”
