Ashton Kutcher’s profound speech to teens stuns everyone

Actor Ashton Kutcher delivered a powerful message at the Teen Choice Awards ceremony — a message one would expect to hear at the Conservative Political Action Conference — not at this venue. And his audience loved it.

Kutcher, who received the “Ultimate Choice” award, gave his audience three maxims to live by, each with a strong conservative theme. They included the definition of “opportunity,” the definition of “sexy,” as well as how one should go through life.

“I believe that opportunity looks a lot like work,” he said. “I never had a job in my life that I was better than. I was always just lucky to have a job. Every job I had was a stepping stone to my next job and I never quit my job before I had my next job.”

He next equated sexiness to intelligence: “The sexiest thing in the entire world is being really smart. And being thoughtful and being generous. Everything else is crap,” he emphasized. “I promise you. It’s just crap that people try to sell to you to make you feel like less. So don’t buy it. Be smart. Be thoughtful and be generous.”

Kutcher’s final “rule to live by” was something he’d picked up from studying the life of Apple co-founder Steven Jobs to prepare for the title role in the upcoming movie “Jobs.”

“Steve Jobs said when you grow up you tend to get told that world is the way that it is.” Kutcher said that’s not the way to go through life.

“Everything around us that we call life was made up of people that are no smarter than you,” he said. “And you can build your own things and you can build your own life that other people can live in. So build a life, don’t live one, find your opportunities and always be sexy.”

He also revealed that Aston is really his middle name. “My first name is Chris,” he said.
