Obama played cards during Osama raid — he couldn’t watch, says aide

Reggie Love, former special assistant to the president, said during an interview that President Obama didn’t remain in the Situation Room during the killing of Osama bin Laden by SEAL Team Six, but was instead playing cards.

Love sat down with Jim Newton, Senior Fellow of the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs and Editor at Large at the Los Angeles Times at an Artists & Athletes Alliance event in late July.

At about the 6:30 mark of the video, Love relates the events in May of 2011 during the takedown of bin Laden. He told Newton that instead of remaining in the Situation Room the entire time, the president played cards with him, saying, “I can’t watch this entire thing.”

“We must have played 15 hands — 15 games of spades,” he said.
