Jesse Jackson leads protest of conservatives that shuts down Chicago street

ALEC-protestGrievance industry kingpin Jesse Jackson and the radical Father Pfleger led a protest in Chicago on Thursday that eventually shut down a street in front of the hotel where the American Legislative Exchange Council was holding its annual conference.

The American Legislative Exchange Council is a nonpartisan organization composed of legislators, businesses and foundations which produces model policies for state legislatures and promotes free markets, limited government, and federalism at the state level.

Jackson was joined by members of his Rainbow Coalition, various labor unions and other far-left activists, including members of the infamous “black bloc,” who are often associated with anarchism.

The demonstrators say ALEC is right-wing and wants to undo what they believe is right about big government, according to the local CBS affiliate.

“Big government gave us rights that state’s rights never gave us,” Jackson said, as reported by CBS Chicago.

“Big government gave us equal protection for women, for workers,” Jackson continued. “For public education, for health care, for public roads. And so the idea that little government makes us better and big government makes us worse off is not really true.”

While the far left bemoans ALEC’s involvement in shaping conservative minded legislation around the country, they don’t apply the same umbrage to the Apollo Alliance, a project of the George Soros funded Tides Foundation, which helped craft portions of the $787 billion “stimulus bill” in 2009.

The Apollo Alliance, once led by self-avowed communist Van Jones, and its associates are also believed to have had a hand in shaping cap and trade legislation and the Affordable Care Act.
