Trump: If Rangel can say ‘cracker,’ Paula Deen should be able to say ‘N-word’

During Donald Trump’s usual Monday morning phone call to the crew of Fox and Friends, recent race baiting by public figures came up, and Trump concluded that if Rep. Charlie Rangel, D-N.Y., can get away with saying “cracker,” then celebrity chef Paula Deen should be able to use the “N-word.”

Trump noted that he’d known Rangel for years and had always considered him a “nice guy.” He was surprised at the language that the Harlem congressman had been getting away with while Deen was utterly “crucified” for a single comment she’d made 29 years ago.

“If Charlie or whoever it was was a Republican and they made that statement, they’d be resigning from office right now,” he said, referring to his “cracker” depiction.

“Nothing will happen to Charlie,” Trump opined. “I see it all the time. If you’re a Republican and you make a statement like that, it’s over. I mean, you are finished… It’s a very rough double standard.”
