Progressives plan mass town hall disruptions for August recess

Progressives are planning a warm August greeting for lawmakers on break from the Capitol.

According to The Hill, lefty groups are stealing a page from conservative activists who in 2009 greeted members of Congress on their August break with democracy in action – peppering them with questions about the new Democratic administration and its majority in both houses of Congress.

The progressive group Americans United for Change has launched a website, Accountable Congress, to list where conservative members will be during the August break and who’ll they’ll be talking to.

The implication being, libs should go up and demonstrate a little dprogressiveprotestemocracy in action.

“This is a new approach. The theory in the past has been to be stealth about the effort to confront members at town halls — but sometimes it’s been too stealth, and we haven’t generated enough activity,” Brad Woodhouse, Americans United for Change president, told The Hill.

According to The Hill, the approach was spurred in part by the publicity generated when the daughter of a Sandy Hook shooting victim confronted Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H., at a town meeting in April.

This will be a classic study of media bias at work.

In 2009, the American citizens peacefully assembling and petitioning their lawmakers for redress of grievances were portrayed as wild-eyed anarchists, disrupting the civil conversation between government and the governed.— threat to democracy itself.

Now, in 2013, libs are planning to turn out at conservative lawmakers’ events and a progressive website is publishing a schedule of where and when such events will take place.

When the lefty elements do show up at conservative town meetings – and they will, the lure of You Tube fame will prove irresistible – we’ll see how they’re portrayed in the media.

As crazed, violent, racists bent on overthrowing the idea of representative democracy in the U.S., as the tea party groups so ludicrously were? Or as young, caring people interested only in helping move the country forward?

The answer is obvious, even now. Bet on the preferred adjective of coverage this August will be “mostly peaceful.”
