Conservative author and brain surgeon Dr. Ben Carson literally laughed out loud when he suggested Obamacare might be President Obama’s only legacy.
In an interview with Ginni Thomas from The Daily Caller, Carson took a moment to consider what Obama’s legacy would be as the first black president.
“I struggle with a good answer for that,” Carson told Thomas. “What is he going to be known for with all these scandals that are coming up and things that don’t seem to be consistent with the truth? I guess there has to be something good. Obamacare?” he laughed. “I guess that might be the legacy,” Carson said, laughing even harder.
Recalling all the Obama rhetoric of “hope and change” from the 2008 campaign, Carson said, “I’ve got to tell you, it really sounded good. If he can attach all of that to his name, he’ll have a pretty good legacy.”
However, speaking seriously about the impact of Obamacare on the medical profession he has recently retired from, Carson told Thomas the “vast majority of doctors are not happy with it.”
When you saw the [American Medical Association] come out for Obamacare, you need to recognize that only 22 to 23 percent of doctors belong to the AMA anymore because they don’t think it represents them. So that’s not a very accurate endorsement.
The problem is you’re taking this gigantic, bureaucratic program and foisting it upon everybody, by force, and you’re utilizing the same mechanisms that haven’t worked for all kinds of other programs.
