Nationally syndicated radio host Tom Joyner loves Trayvon Martin’s friend Rachel Jeantel so much, he offered her a full four-year scholarship to attend any Historically Black College or University of her choice.
Joyner, host of “The Tom Joyner Morning Show,” also runs the Tom Joyner Foundation, which supports and provides scholarships to students who attend HBCU’s.
So “touched” was he by Jeantel’s testimony during the George Zimmerman trial and her Monday night appearance on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Live,” Joyner offered to help the 19-year-old graduate from high school, and then provide a full-ride to college.
Joyner told Jeantel, “I love you, I really do love you,” and then made her a potentially life-changing offer:
Rachel, here’s my offer to you. If you want to graduate from high school and go to an HBCU, even if it’s not in Florida, but especially Florida, like Florida Memorial, Edward Waters or FAMU, if you want to do that, I want to help you do that.
I will help you get tutors to get you out of high school, tutors to help you pass the SAT, and I will give you a full ride scholarship to any HBCU you’d like.
According to a CNN report, Jeantel expressed an interest in studying law enforcement, so she thanked Joyner for his offer.
