Accused Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will achieve a status coveted by many but attained by few — he’ll be on the cover of “Rolling Stone” magazine.
Boston’s early risers received a shock when they clicked on their TVs to check the morning news — they discovered that the city’s most hated resident was going to be front and center on the next issue of the music, politics and pop culture periodical, according to NBC Boston affiliate WHDC.
Because the cover is generally reserved for music icons, Bostonians feel this decision glamorizes the bomber, turning him into a rock star.
The fact that the cover is headlined, “The Bomber. How a popular, promising student was failed by his family, fell into radical Islam and became a monster,” does little to assuage the wounds — the memory is too recent.
“I don’t want to talk about that nutcase. I don’t like it, he shouldn’t get the [publication],” said one to WHDC.
“Oh that’s that dude. Oh get out of here. No, no that ain’t right. That’s not right. Whoever sides with ‘Rolling Stone’…” said another before turning and walking away in disgust.
