Rachel Jeantel, the prosecution’s star witness in the George Zimmerman trial, finally ended speculation over what Trayvon Martin meant when he called Zimmerman a “creepy-ass cracka.”
Jeantel, the last person to speak to Martin before he was killed in Feb. 2012, told Piers Morgan Monday night that “cracka” means cop.
And, according to the 13th definition of the word on Urban Dictionary, it does indeed: “Stating a police officer is mostly used by the inner city youths.”
She first confirmed the correct spelling of it for Morgan, and then explained a “cracka” is “a person who act like they’re a police, who, like a security guard who acting like — that’s what I said to them. Trayvon said creepy ass cracka.”
Because Jeantel didn’t make that clear during her testimony, fascinating discussions ensued online and in the media over the meaning of the word, with the top three explanations being: a derogatory word for a white person, a term used by slaves to describe the person cracking a whip, and an “ass-cracker” – a pervert.
As to the jury verdict, Jeantel told Morgan:
Well, the jury, they see their facts. No offense to the jury, they old, that’s old school people. We in a new school, our generation, my generation. So —
Rather than speculate and be wrong again, perhaps it’s best to wait for Morgan to invite Jeantel back to explain what a “new school jury” is.
