Texas lawmaker acclaimed for filibuster, now famous for hypocrisy

Texas state Senator Wendy Davis, who rose overnight from obscurity to darling of the left with an 11-hour filibuster, now claims that her political opponents are using the abortion issue “to boost their own political aspirations,” something which she has admitted of herself.

Davis made the rounds on three separate talk shows Sunday, including CBS News’ “Face the Nation,” according to NewsBusters.

Host Bob Schieffer introduced Davis by saying: “few outside Texas knew of her until last week when she became an overnight sensation. When Wendy Davis spent 11 hours filibustering a bill to put new limits on abortion in the Texas senate, the nation took notice.”

During the interview, Davis claimed Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst of placing Texas women “in harm’s way in order for them to step up the political ladder.”

Earlier in the week, however, she told MSNBC host Chris Hayes that she’d be lying if she said she didn’t have aspirations to run for a state-wide office in Texas.

Hypocrisy? You bet!
