New York Sen. Chuck Schumer is on the march against exploding cell phones – demanding greater regulation to solve a problem that hasn’t gotten nearly the attention it deserves.
According to a report last week on CBS News Channel 2 in New York, Schumer thinks the exploding use of cell phones in the United States has led to similar explosion in the phones themselves, usually blamed on faulty batteries imported from China.
According to the report, there have been 61 reports of exploding cell phones in the United States in the past two years. According to the wireless industry trade association CTIA, there were about 326.4 million wireless devices – including cell phones – in use in the United States in 2012.
Sixty-one out of 326.4 million exploded.
Thank God Schumer is in there fighting.
